May
1, 2004 - Mission Accomplished? Procession for Peace
Photos from
a vigil and procession
for peace held in San Francisco on the anniversary of President
Bush's "Mission
Accomplished" speech.
The procession
started at UN
Plaza with a prayer by Buddhist monks. The somber procession,
punctuated only by the chimes of peace
bells, continued on to the San Francisco Federal Building, the
Veteran's Building, and finally the steps of City Hall.
At each stop
the names
of Iraqi war dead, both US and Iraqi, were read in front of a backdrop
of hand held placards showing a sea
of names and faces.
