March for Women's Lives | NY Says No to Bush | Three Ring Circus | Liberated | The Coronation
August
29, 2004 - New York and America Say No to Bush
In a march that stretched for miles and went on for hours New Yorkers and Americans said no to Bush. As the marchers passed New York's Madison Square Garden, the location where, just days from now, the Republican National Convention will be convened, a continuous roar of boos and cheers could be heard in the humid New York summer air.
At one point during the march large paper mache dragon head was set on fire right in front of The Garden. Hundreds of bandana clad marchers rushed by as the police attempted to contain the fire. One of the people rushing bye said, as way of explanation, "it's the least we could do." *
* Editor's note: The photographer does not know who set the dragon on fire (marchers, anarchists, blac bloc, under cover cops, an accident, etc.) and was quite surprised when it went up in flames. Additionally, the photographer does not know the identities of the people rushing by as they were all wearing masks. Also, there are no unpublished photos that could be used to identify anyone involved (whoever they might be.) We are choosing to leave up the photos and report as it was photographed and witnessed.
